Any spellers who plan on attending the regional bee need to have permission slips to Mrs. Heather by TODAY, Wednesday at 3:20.

The next Art Club meeting will be TOMORROW, Thursday, February 19th from 3:00-4:00 in the art room.  Please sign up in the office if you would like to attend.  All students are welcome. 

Student Council is hosting a Winter Wonderland Dance at BMS THIS Friday February 20th from 5:00-7:00 PM. There will be a DJ, Photo Booth, and Food! Tickets are $5 on presale or $7 at the door. Tickets are available in front of the gym from 7:30-7:45 a.m. and can be purchased until 2/20. Contact Ms. Free with any questions.

Attention 8th graders if you are interested in BHS Sideline Cheer for next year, please see or email Ms. Free to have an interest link sent to your school account. This link must be filled out prior to the open gyms.

BMS Builder's Club is celebrating National Builder's Club week Feb. 23rd through the 27th.  Celebrate with us by participating in dress up days.  Monday, Feb. 23rd wear blue, Tuesday, Feb. 24th hat and crazy sock day, Wednesday, Feb. 25th wear a jersey, Thursday, Feb. 26th student and teacher switch day, Friday, Feb. 27th PJ day.  Builder's Club is a student led service organization for middle school students.  It is designed to build leadership, character, and community through service projects.  It's not too late to join this year, we have several fun service projects in the upcoming months.  Pick up a registration form in the office.  All membership fees are waived the remaining of the year.  Our next meeting is Friday, Feb. 20th.

For the month of February, the Builder's Club is hosting a donation drive for Noah's Ark Animal Shelter. Donated items can include: 

Cleaning supplies (bleach, laundry detergent, trash bags, paper towels), pet care items (scoopable cat litter, canned food, blankets, towels, toys), and operational support (gift cards, office supplies). Other common needs include puppy/kitten formula, pet beds, and, in some cases, specialized veterinary or wildlife care items. A donation box will be outside the main office until March 6th

Blind Date with a Book is open for the month of February in the Byron Middle School Library. Stop in to ask Miss Rieck how to participate. There are Blind Date books available for staff as well!


Young American Poetry Digest’s 2026 competition has begun! Here is your chance to become a published poet! All forms of poetry are accepted, but they highlight “haiku” poetry. A panel of educators will select poems to be published in the 32nd edition of Young American Poetry Digest and a free copy of this book will be mailed to our BMS library. Submit your handwritten or typed (you may also email
mrieck@byron226.org) poetry to Miss Rieck by April 6th. If you have any questions stop in the library during your flex time.

Coach Harn and Coach White are hosting a volleyball camp the week of March 16th – 19th. Information and registration forms can be picked up in the middle school office.  Cost for the clinic is $20.00 with checks payable to Byron Middle School.  Registration deadline is March 6th.

Sign up for  Volunteens (Monday, March 2nd), Dungeons & Dragons (Wednesdays on the 4th, 11th, 18th & 25th), Macreme Rainbow (Tuesday, March 10th), Minute To Win It (Wednesday, March 18th) and Painting Bird Houses (Thursday, March 26th) on the library website. 

FFA meeting next Wednesday 2/25 3-4 pm in the Ag room. Students will be preparing for Livestock Judging Contest.
