Chess Club will have its first meeting of the year TOMORROW, Thursday, October 2nd. We will meet in room 700 from 3:20-4:00. Students may report at 3:00. Chess Club is for anyone interested in chess. Student council is collecting pop tabs for The Ronald McDonald House through the month of October. Please bring in your pop tabs & put them in your grade level bottle (in each pod). The grade level that fills their bottle first will win a prize.
It’s almost boys’ basketball season! Registration is currently open and the directions to get registered are listed below. We are excited to kick off another fantastic season. Students will ride the transfer bus over to Mary Morgan and sit in Mary Mogan's cafeteria until their coaches release them for practice.

PARTICIPANT REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS – 2025-26
1. Log on to: https://byron.8to18.com , Snap! Manage site.
2. Create an account (continue to next step if you’ve created an account in the system previously).
3. Log in to your account & click Begin Registration to follow prompts. You will need to Add Participant’s Name & ID # on initial login. If ID is unknown, please enter 1111 temporarily.
4. Select the Activity being registered for. Complete all required fields & click Save.
5. On the next screen, you may upload your completed Physical Examination Form, or you must print out & complete the Physical Form, and have it signed & dated where indicated by the student, parent/guardian, & physician performing the exam.
6. Acknowledge all required documents have been read & accepted by BOTH the student and the parent/guardian. Click Next. If both boxes are not checked, you will not be allowed to continue.
7. On the Registration Summary screen, click the “Submit” button. You will receive a confirmation email from no-reply@8to18.com. This is open to any 6th, 7th, or 8th grader.
The next Outdoor Adventure Club outing will be an Adventure Hike at Starved Rock and Matthiessen State Parks on Saturday, October 11th from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. These parks are 1-1/4 hour ride south of Byron, where students can hike, explore canyons, investigate waterfalls, and visit other interesting points along the way including the Illinois River Lock & Dam. Everyone should eat a nutritious breakfast that morning before the ride. Cost of this trip is $5.00. Registration forms are available for pick up in the Middle School Office. Forms and money are due no later than Thursday, October 9th.

The next Art Club meeting will be Wednesday, October 15th from 3:00-4:00 in the art room. Please sign up in the office by Friday, October 10th if you would like attend. Mrs. Bierman will need to buy supplies for this meeting, so signing up is important. All students are welcome to attend.
The Builder's Club is sponsoring a hat and glove drive for the Rockford Rescue Mission. They have created hygiene bags and need new women's and men's hats and gloves to complete the bags. The goal is to collect 20 women's hats and gloves and 20 men's. The collection will be held until November. All donations can be dropped off in the collection box outside the main office.
Help support PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) at Byron Middle School. Click the link below to order a BMS shirt. Sign up for teen programs at the Byron Public Library! Register for Scary Book Box (TODAY, October 1st), Volunteens (Monday, October 6th at 6:00 pm), Wicked movie & crafts (Monday, October 13th at 2:00 pm), and a Murder Mystery (Friday, October 24th at 6:00 pm) on the library website. In addition, after-school Teen Time has now begun and will be on Mondays-Thursdays from 3:00 – 5:00 pm. No registration is necessary for Teen Time.
