Kids on bikes in park

This morning before school, approximately 50 Byron Middle School students and staff took part in the first ever “Tiger Trek,” a bike ride from Blackhawk Park to Byron Middle School to help build community and to start the day with an activity.

"I was a little worried about how the event would go, but the kids and staff were awesome!” said Byron Middle school principal Mike Sand.  “It was really fun to take a bike ride with the kids.”

The students and staff who attended were treated with donuts and drinks at Blackhawk Park prior to setting off on their journey to school.  The treats were provided by the Byron PTA, who sponsored the activity.

After leaving the park, the Byron Police Department, who had coned off some areas of the bike path for additional safety, led the group of students and staff to the school with a police escort down Tower Road.  “What a cool event to be a part of,” said Byron police Sergeant Spencer Morrissey. “The kids and staff were a lot of fun to be around, and I could tell they were all enjoying their rides.”
