Byron Middle School

2017 BMS Veterans Day Assembly

Over ninety Veterans and family members enjoyed a breakfast put on by the student council.  At 8:30, both Veterans and middle school staff and students went to the theater for a student organized and run assembly.   For the next hour, the audience heard music from the band, choir, and poems written by 8th grade students.  There was a presentation that included the meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance and a video that contained interviews of Veterans, staff and students regarding the meaning the flag.  The assembly wrapped up with a short presentation about each branch of military.  Veterans from each branch then were able to introduce themselves and were given a small flag with an attached message from an 8th grade student.  Special thanks to the students and staff who worked hard making the morning events successful.  I want to thank all the Veterans and their family members that took the time to join us.
